Wisconsin has often been referred to as “Dairyland” due to the enormous supply of dairy products that the state produces. It rivals much bigger and more populous states in terms of dairy production like California, New York, and Pennsylvania. But something Wisconsin hasn’t produced much of in recent years, is hemp. Wisconsin’s Hemp History Some […]
For those with a written certification, yes! With the passing of HB2151 and SB726 one can now obtain an Affirmative Defense Certificate through their doctor, which will act as their defense should an officer of the law have questions for them. This law requires that products contain at least 5mg/mL CBD, or 5mg/mL THCA-A (Tetrahydrocannabinolic […]
Louisiana, The Bayou State, is home to some of the most diverse culture in all of the South. Every year, over a million people take in the sights, food, music, and legendary party atmosphere that Mardi Gras famously provides. In addition to all that, Louisiana recently passed new laws to allow patients to take part in the state’s brand new medical marijuana program. The program is currently modest in size, but has the potential for rapid growth in the coming years.
The state joined twenty-nine others who have legalized marijuana for medical reasons, and the operation figures to be up and running sometime in the fall. It sounds like patients will have at least nine different dispensaries to choose from, so you should expect to see even more green during next years festivities and I’m not talking beads.
The Marijuana Side
Keep in mind however, that the consumption of marijuana is still illegal for recreational use in the state, and should be used by medical patients in their respective homes. So it’s probably not the best idea to light up a toke and walk by a police officer going down Bourbon Street. To the surprise of some, it currently stands that their requirement and regulations are among the strictest of the twenty-nine states. Patients only qualify for the program if they have been diagnosed with Cancer, HIV/AIDS/ Crohn’s Disease, Muscular Dystrophy, Multiple Sclerosis, cachexia, and/or epilepsy. Now, new studies are testing CBD oil’s ability to combat relapse in opioid abusers.
However, the future could present new opportunities as lawmakers in Louisiana voted to expand the list of medical conditions that qualify for a medical marijuana license. While the bill is still under review, these conditions could soon include, autism, glaucoma, post-traumatic stress disorder, and severe muscle spasms.
The Hemp Side
Those who don’t have a qualifiable condition, aren’t interested in purchasing a license, or don’t want to feel the psychoactive effects, (feeling stoned) should give hemp derived CBD oil a try if they are still interested in many of the medicinal and healing qualities that marijuana provides. Even though CBD isn’t psychoactive, it can still make its mark on your mind. Peace from anxiety, feelings of calmness, escape from insomnia, and potential help with seizures mark just a few of the ways that CBD can have a positive effect on your brain.
Hemp is a product of the Cannabis Sativa Plant, and is often used for a variety of industrial purposes. Hemp is tough, doesn’t require much attention, and doesn’t need copies amounts of water to grow. It can be used to make clothing, paper, and various construction materials. While the marijuana industry is just starting to blossom in Louisiana, there is still much skepticism when dealing with Cannabis related products. This is mostly because of the psychoactive effects of THC. However, hemp especially has the potential to make serious headway quickly as an industry in the state, due to its many practical uses.
CBD, or Cannabidiol, has become one of the fastest growing forms of treatment for various ailments. From nausea, inflammation, chronic pain, anxiety, epilepsy, there seems to be no shortage of medical problems that aren’t being treated with CBD oil. Promising research has even found that CBD could be a possible treatment for Parkinson’s and some cancers. Heck, people are even starting to give it to their dogs. It currently comes in a variety of forms. Ingesting the hemp oil under the tongue through a dropper seems to be the most popular use, but it can also be vaped, eaten in the form of edibles, or applied through a topical lotion. The CBD industry has nearly doubled in size over the last twenty-four months, and the industry’s value is believed to exceed 200 million dollars.
How to Buy CBD Oil in Louisiana
So, is CBD legal in Louisiana? It sure is. In fact, it’s legal in every state across America as long as the ingredients adhere to the specific guidelines. The federal maximum allows for a 0.3 THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) percentage in hemp derived CBD oils. However, certain states allow for varying degrees of THC, ranging usually from 0.3 to 0.9 percent. In case you’re unfamiliar, THC is what is responsible for all those psychoactive effects. Typically, THC levels in marijuana can range anywhere between 5 and 30 percent.
Although many in Louisiana still hold an anti hemp/marijuana sentiment, there is slow progress opening up new opportunities for those seeking treatment. Medical marijuana was approved for patients last election cycle under some very tight restrictions. Now a new bill, created by the House of Representatives in Louisiana, was just approved by the Senate, and even more patients can hopefully find relief soon. For those who don’t qualify, hemp derived CBD oil remains an excellent choice for residents of the Bayou State searching for natural relief.
When one thinks of Hawaii, visions of coasts, coconuts, and cool breezes inhabiting a golden island of sunset covered tropical dreaminess, or something like that, is usually what comes to mind. Hawaii has long been one of America’s premier vacation destinations, attracting tourists, surfers, biologists, and unfortunately, perhaps especially recently, volcanologists. In fact, around eight […]

In 2014, the Agricultural Act of 2014 (“The Farm Bill”) was passed, permitting the Department of Agriculture to grow industrial hemp for the sake of research. The marijuana grown under this law can contain no more than 3/10 of 1% (more easily put, 0.3%) of THC, because the basis of the research lies in finding […]
